Diversity of Tarot: Eroticism

Eroticism is a very important theme in playing card, the first illustrated cards of this kind are dating back to 1835, and in Tarot also, but latterly around hundred years in 1989. The first erotic deck, Esteban Lopez Tarot was never officially published in deck form, but appeared as illustrations in a German Tarot book called Tarot und Liebe in 1989. Ten years later, the true first erotic tarot, which contains pornographic images, is Black Tarot of Luis Royo, published by Fournier in 1998. Erotic Tarot of Luca Raimondo, publised by Fabbri in 2000, is the first tarot which take directly the theme in the name. Many modern decks could be mentioned: Maryel Tarot by Marie White (Schiffer Books, 2012), Art Nouveau Tarot of Antonella Castelli (Lo Scarabeo, 2002). Many other erotic decks (or contains mainly erotic elements) are in the dark and gothic theme or wiccan theme like Gothic Tarot of Joseph Vargo‎, Sensual Wicca Tarot of Nada Mesar, Vampire Tarot of the Eternal Night of Davide Corsi.
